Layale Chaker was a winner of the Silkroad Seeds inaugural 2020 award—the latest in an impressive series of honors. She and her husband, Kinan Azmeh, are familiar to Hancher audiences from their participation in the Embracing Complexity programming. In this performance created for Hancher, Chaker and her ensemble will perform music from her critically acclaimed Inner Rhyme album as well as new music from the forthcoming Bards project—a celebration of musicianship and musicians beyond the borders of confinement and geography—performed here for the first time.
