Folk singer/songwriter and guitarist Haley Heynderickx's introspective songs are infused by her religious Filipino-American upbringing and call to mind the folk music of the 1960s and 1970s mixed with a love of jazz radio. Her vocals range from sultry to operatic, and her generosity of spirit always shines through her performances.
She joins forces with The Westerlies, a brass ensemble The New York Times calls "an arty quartet ... mixing ideas from jazz, new classical, and Appalachian folk." The two trumpet, two trombone ensemble have worked with Fleet Foxes, Conrad Tao, Aoife O'Donovan, and others. The members of the quartet will work with brass musicians in the School of Music while on campus.
