Part of Hancher's 52nd season

Old-timey and eclectic, Old Crow Medicine Show has the musical cure for what ails you.

When Old Crow Medicine Show first hit the road as teenagers who loved old-time string music, they couldn’t have imagined the journey would last 25 years and beyond. But like the “Wagon Wheel” of their signature song, the band just keeps rolling on. “We continue to explore sounds both old and new, foreign and familiar, and keep bringing audiences to their feet night after night,” wrote founding member Ketch Secor. “The journey that began in a Volvo Station Wagon at the Canadian border in the fall of 1998 continues to unfold in ways unimaginable. Our exploration of the continent’s heritage in song keeps on producing. Until that vein is tapped we’ll probably just keep on digging. And that’ll likely take a good long while.”

“Old Crow Medicine Show are so consistently good that it’s easy to take them for granted … [T]hey were the antecedent to bands like the Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons. And their catalog is crammed with albums that replicate the unbridled joy and communion of their live shows.” —The Boston Globe

With his soulful voice, timeless folk style, and rich storytelling, Willie Watson opens for Old Crow Medicine Show. A founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show, Watson embarked on a solo career in 2011 and in 2014 released Folk Singer Vol. 1 followed a few years later by Folk Singer Vol. 2. Watson’s solo output is characterized by his soulful voice, skilled musicianship, and deep respect for the roots of American folk music.
