Part of Hancher's 52nd Season

Part of the Steven Schick Residency

In collaboration with UI Center for New Music

Steve Schick will perform with the Center for New Music Ensemble for the first time in nearly three decades, in a program featuring two major compositions which will bring together acoustic and electronic media. These works include Varese’s Déserts from 1950, a rarely performed composition that combines electronic sounds with an orchestra of winds, piano, and percussion, and George Lewis’s Soundlines, a tour-de-force work written for sinfonietta ensemble, percussion, and electronics. Also included on the concert is Takemitsu’s Rain Coming and Vivian Fung’s The Ice is Talking.

PROGRAM
Vivian FUNG: The Ice Is Talking (Steven Schick, solo)
Tōru TAKEMITSU: Rain Coming
Edgard VARÈSE: Déserts
George LEWIS: Soundlines: A Dreaming Track (featuring Steve Schick)
